"I’m proud to have created a safe space where our community can come together and move without thought of limitations. Breakin Boundaries is a family. I’m so proud of the many friendships, business relationships, and community connections ..."
Wanderlust Weekly: Congrats on the growth of Breakin Boundaries! What inspired its creation? Renee Manzolillo: I always knew I'd eventually open a dance/fitness studio. But it wasn't until I broke my back years ago that my lifelong dream became a reality. I opened Breakin’ Boundaries to heal others with the same well-rounded care I had to employ in healing myself from that injury. Overcoming my own diverse healing challenges taught me the power that comes from connecting mind with body. I knew I wanted to share with others what I’d learned: movement is a language and it speaks volumes. It's an absolute gift to be such an instrumental part of real-life transformations and healing.
Wanderlust Weekly: You've built a strong community following in Brooklyn. What are some of your proudest moments? Renee Manzolillo: I’m proud to have created a safe space where our community can come together and move without thought of limitations. Breakin Boundaries is a family. I’m so proud of the many friendships, business relationships, and community connections we’ve fostered here. On a personal level, I’m proud and blessed to have been given a second chance to move, to dance, to educate, to inspire and to build relationships within the Brooklyn community. Mostly I’m proud to have assembled a team of world-class instructors and staff who believe in the Breakin Boundaries mission and deliver kick-ass, fun, inspiring classes week after week.
Wanderlust Weekly: The wellness field is constantly evolving, what upcoming news or developments can we look forward to? Renee Manzolillo: In addition to our regular weekly schedule, Breakin Boundaries continues to bring fun and inventive dance and fitness pop-up classes every month. These classes range from African-Caribbean dancing to zumba master classes and buti yoga! We announce these classes a few weeks in advance on our social media accounts and website (you can also find our regularly scheduled classes here) We are also excited to announce that for the 4th year in a row we will be sponsoring Brooklyn's annual Go Green festival. We will be instructing free dance and fitness classes all day! The event will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at McCarren Park in Williamsburg Brooklyn. [ learn more ]
