Centered City Yoga

"Centered City Yoga promises to share the truth of yoga by offering places of sanctuary where students of all backgrounds and body types and abilities can come to experience yoga ... I am inspired daily as I stay to this truth of what I see the practice of yoga ..."

Wanderlust WeeklyThe growth of Centered City Yoga is impressive, what inspired you to venture down this path? Rachel Cieslewicz: Yoga is so much more than just asana and breath and drishti. For me it has opened up a world of presence, with the ability to live a life well worth living, of course through the technical aspect of the practice. These aspects awaken the deeper intelligence of our bodies, minds and souls. The more people I can reach and teach how to find presence and grace on the mat, the easier it becomes for them to experience growth as they navigate through the challenging, and even the easier aspects of life. I love to help others. With Centered City Yoga as a hub of yoga in Salt Lake City, I experience a greater opportunity to serve my students in the studio. My reward is to then watch them live in ways that honor their soul calls.

Wanderlust Weekly: Although building a business is challenging, can you recount some favorite moments or accomplishments? Rachel Cieslewicz: Yes, the business of yoga is very challenging. I of course have to face and work through the hard things, but the heartfelt rewards are many. My vision for Centered City Yoga is this ... Centered City Yoga promises to share the truth of yoga by offering places of sanctuary where students of all backgrounds and body types and abilities can come to experience yoga, while embracing:

Community
Connection
Collaboration
Compassion
Cohesive energy
All to embody heartfelt light and balance. C to the 5th power

Anything that brings us towards this is wonderful. I am inspired daily as I stay to this truth of what I see the practice of yoga creating space for. And this is not just my vision for our precious studio, it is my dream to share this with all of our yoga studios across the Wasatch Front, and beyond. I imagine often what it will be like to share with our entire communities at large that all bodies can find a yoga practice that serves them, and opens them to deeper meaning in life. Centered City Yoga already works well beyond the studio walls, in myriad ways. Myself and many of our talented teachers do a lot of outreach. Examples are: we teach young children in schools, staff and lawyers at law firms, patients and staff at the Huntsman Cancer Center, our silver populations in Veteran homes and senior center, and more. I love this. I love being able to touch and help the lives of others in very special ways, through yoga.

Wanderlust Weekly: We wish you continued success in Salt Lake City, what upcoming developments or events can your followers look forward to? Rachel Cieslewicz: Centered City Yoga has many exciting events coming up! I am delighted about all of them. But what is closest to my heart at this time is the work of myself and all of our senior teachers, developing an amazing and dynamically inspired 300-hour bridge program meant to link an existing 200-hour program, into a 500-hour trained teacher. Between our senior teachers at Centered City Yoga, we have almost 100 years worth of teaching experience going into this program. We will help our teachers go deeper in the practices and understanding of Kundalini, Ashtanga, Anusara, meditation and pranayama, astral fields, social justice and more! I truly want our teachers to be well-round and able to utilize all aspects of yoga as tools to help others grow into their practice in sanctuary, kindness and love of all sentient beings, and our Mother Earth. Other exciting things coming up:

- Our next 200-hour Centered City Yoga “Yoga Soul Mentorship Teacher Training” program begins, August 25th, and our 300-hour training previously discussed begins in January of 2018

- Yoga Journal’s Live ~ Be ~ Yoga Tour will be in town at Centered City Yoga Saturday, September 2nd for a not to miss power class led by an incredible alignment based teacher, Jason Lawner at 9:00AM. We have 80 spaces for students in our “Crown” studio and plan to fill it will amazing yogis and embrace community spirit and joy

- Over the next few months we will also off many workshops in Sanskrit, meditation, well lifestyles, Ayurvedic sciences, arm balancing, sound bowls, and more!
