"I would have to say that our proudest moments are when we graduate our FlorYoga teachers out of 200-hour and Prenatal Teacher Training. We know that we have given them something special that they can then bring to an even wider circle of people ..."

Wanderlust WeeklyCongrats on the growth of FlorYoga! What inspired you to become an instructor? Sarah Marsh: To be perfectly honest, I can remember the exact moment it happened. I was in the film industry for about a year in L.A., and I was 22. I was surviving on 3-4 hours sleep, working crazy hours, and living on coffee and craft service. I looked around one day at the "successful" Directors and Producers who were twice my age at the time, and I thought, I don't want to live that life. Having a dance, gymnastics & music background, I was so drawn to movement and breath combined, and then I found Baron Baptiste's Hot Yoga class. I fell in love with Yoga during my first class. One day, I ran all the way back to my West Hollywood apartment from the studio, and said to my friends: I am going to be a Yoga teacher. I never looked back. That was 30 years ago.

Wanderlust Weekly: You've built a strong community following in New Jersey, what are some of your proudest moments? Sarah Marsh: I would have to say that our proudest moments are when we graduate our FlorYoga teachers out of 200-hour and Prenatal Teacher Training. We know that we have given them something special that they can then bring to an even wider circle of people. We feel as though our graduates not only deepen their own practice, but that we introduce them to a part of themselves that they have been looking for, and that brings them joy. And in turn, they go out and inspire their students to live their best lives. We are so proud to teach from our hearts, and give our graduates the wisdom to teach from their hearts as well. Most recently, I am super proud to have been brought onto the Barnabas Health team, and start teaching for JP Morgan Chase, and Mack-Cali Realty in several locations in New Jersey. I am also proud of the community that we have created, and to be able to give back to our neighborhood and to other causes with Yoga fundraising classes and workshops. Perhaps my proudest moment was when I was teaching the New York Giants, and I was able to bring my brother and father, long-time Giants' fans, to the team's practice. My father no longer wondered why he sent me through college, so I could teach yoga.

Wanderlust Weekly: The wellness field is constantly evolving, what upcoming news or developments can we look forward to? Sarah Marsh: FlorYoga is offering 200-hour, Prenatal, Kids Yoga, and Corporate Yoga Teacher Trainings this Fall in Jersey City. And we will be hosting our second Wellness Retreat on the beautiful coastline of Costa Rica next Summer! The retreat will be through truenaturetravels.com, July 14th through 21st, 2018. It will be at the Tropico Latino in beautiful Santa Teresa Costa Rica. Because my husband and I are both musicians and yoga teachers, we plan to combine live music with yoga and posture clinics, to make this retreat special and unique. We are also launching free yoga classes in Mack-Cali locations all over New Jersey this Summer - open to anyone who wants to take the classes. All the details will be on FlorYoga Instagram and FB. We will, of course, continue offering in-home and on-site yoga to anyone, anytime, anywhere - as this is what we do best!
